The thieves who had stolen two historical manuscripts from the Gaziantep Synagogue were first caught on the security camera and then by the police.

The thieves who had stolen the two Torah manuscripts could not escape from the police. The two thieves, entering the synagogue which had been renovated and reopened also for touristic purposes, stole the two Torah manuscripts with historical value and disappeared. Acting upon the report, the Theft Police Department teams identified the identity of the suspects via the security camera footage.

The suspects named O.S. and D.A. who were taken into custody by the police, following the necessary procedures at the police station were taken to the courthouse. After the trial, the two theft suspects were arrested and sent to prison.

The Gaziantep Synagogue which had been empty and deserted for years since the 1980s, due to the fact that no Jews were left in Gaziantep, had opened its doors once again three years ago on December 26th, following the renovation executed by the Directorate General of Foundations.
