The investigative writer and businessman Hanri Benazus who owned the largest Atatürk photography collection in Turkey, passed away at 94.

Hanri Benazus Has Passed Away

One of the most important businessmen of Izmir and former president of Altay Sports Club Benazus owned nearly thirty thousand Atatürk photographs.

Benazus started collecting Atatürk photos at the age of 17 when he saw and bought a photograph of Atatürk he had never seen before. Benazus also fondly stated that the most important memory of his entire life had been the moment he had met Atatürk.

Benazus had donated ten thousand photos from his archive to Ankara Metropolitan Municipality in 2021.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality had named a street in Izmir after Benazus on April 7, 2022, during a ceremony with the participation of Mayor Tunç Soyer.
