Sephardic Music on Turkish Airlines Flights

While traveling with Turkish Airlines (THY), the extensive in-flight entertainment system available to passengers also includes movie and music options. When we check the music library, two albums that are important for Sephardic Culture stand out.

The first of these albums, which is in the Turkish Pop category, features works from a concert that Sezen Aksu performed with Los Pasharos Sefaradis many years ago. In the album "Songs of Turkey (Türkiye Şarkıları)" the group performs three pieces together with Sezen Aksu: 'Leha Dodi ', which is one of the important religious works of the Jewish tradition, 'La Romansa de Rika Kuriel', and 'Bastoniko de Djevizli'.

Thus, Ladino music is included in Turkish Airlines' extensive music collection.

Another noteworthy name in the Turkish Airlines music library is Nino Varon, who has been known in the music industry for many years. Varon, one of the significant music figures of our country, is also included in Turkish Airlines' music collection with the album "Şarkı Gibi Şarkılar (Songs That Are Truly Songs)" which was released a few years ago.

The presence of these albums in the music library of the Turkish Airlines in-flight entertainment system, provides remarkable visibility in terms of bringing the cultural heritage of the Turkish Jewish community, and especially Judeo Espagnol/Ladino music, to wider audiences.
