Jazz Concert in Grand Synagogue of Edirne

The pianist and composer Guy Mintus who comes from a mixed Iraqi, Moroccan, and Polish Jew descent, is exactly someone you would call a citizen of the world. He lives in Tel Aviv and New York, while he continuously performs concerts in many countries such as Brazil, India, Switzerland, France, Germany and various cities of US and Canada.

The music of Guy Mintus, who has performed in Istanbul many times, is like a meeting point of different rivers of inspiration. In most of his compositions, he throws into the mix his colorful ethnic heritage.

The Guy Mintus Trio started with the need to create a musical home where different identities and influences can co-exist and come together as a unique voice. The electricity and kinetic listening between the three musicians had been described as “keeping the entire hall with held breath” by Barka Fabianova from Full Moon Zine Magazine.

Mintus's awards include the 'Leonard Bernstein Award' by ASCAP and the Bernstein Family Foundation, Prix du Public at the Montreux Jazz Festival’s solo piano competition, and ASCAP’s 'Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Award', which he has received twice.
