Ulus Jewish High School and Üsküdar American Academy Together After the Nazi Salute

A committee from the Üsküdar American Academy (ÜAL) visited Ulus Jewish High School (UÖML) on Tuesday. The visitors met with the Head of the Foundation, Foundation Members, the Education Coordinator, the Principal and the Assistant Principal of the High School, and student representatives including some football team players.

During the meeting, the School Principal, Assistant Principal, Team Coach, Team Captain, and the student representatives from the Üsküdar American Academy committee offered their apologies. They expressed that they were at the zero tolerance level for all kinds of discrimination and antisemitism and that they were prepared to organize trainings and programs on these issues with the cooperation of the two schools.

The students of UÖML, in the meeting, expressing that they accept the apology, stated they wanted to be informed about the sanctions to be imposed on the students involved in the incident and the Holocaust education that Üsküdar American Academy will give to these students and the whole school. The meeting ended with both schools reaching a consensus on displaying zero tolerance and improving and disseminating Holocaust education so that incidents such as these shall not happen in the future.
