Nazi Salute; From Üsküdar American Academy Students to Ulus Jewish High School Students

The Turkish Jewish Community, confirming the incident which received a great reaction on social media, stated that they were taking the necessary action.

While the UÖML (Ulus Jewish High School) students did not want to comment on the incident, the parents confirmed the case. UÖML's principal Funda Kara said, "We are in contact with the Üsküdar American Academy administration and the sports board organizing the league. We've shared the case about what happened. We will share the results of the discussions and the decision of the board on the issue." The school administration also praised the reaction of the students to the incident.

Especially ÜAL (Üsküdar Amerikan Academy) parents and alumni shared their thoughts and anger at the school administration's unresponsiveness on the issue. Disqualification of the school team from the soccer tournament was suggested by many social media users.

A member of the SEV Foundation Board of Directors, to which the Üsküdar American Academy is affiliated, in their statement to Şalom, expressing that one student was responsible for the act, added that ÜAL administration had contacted the UÖML administration and apologized and that they were planning to visit them as soon as possible.

Üsküdar American Academy issued a statement on the issue on Wednesday morning. The statement included the following:

"As Üsküdar American Academy, which has been raising generations since 1876, we are deeply saddened by the wrong action of one of our team players in a soccer match with Ulus Jewish High School.

We would like to emphasize that, in line with our institutional and educational philosophy, we stand against all kinds of discrimination.

We have immediately contacted the school administrators of Ulus Jewish High School, conveyed our regrets, and initiated the necessary investigation.

It is kindly announced to the public that we will follow up on the issue with sensitivity and consideration."
