Hanukkah Greetings from the State Officials

Starting with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, many mayors and political party leaders have sent greetings for the Hanukkah Festival of the Turkish Jewish community.

President Erdoğan, emphasizing that today the Jewish citizens, who have been living together with a strong sense of unity, solidarity and belonging in the society, were an inseparable part of the society as it had been in the past, said:

"While antisemitism, Islamophobia and xenophobia threaten social peace today in many countries as well as global peace, the unity and solidarity, all our citizens display in our country with mutual respect, love and understanding without any discrimination, sets an exceptional example to the entire world.

With these thoughts in mind, I hope Hanukkah may bring well-being to all the Jewish people, especially our Jewish citizens, and extend my most heartfelt greetings to them.”

Ekrem Imamoğlu, the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, shared his wishes for Hanukkah via his social media account, both in Turkish and English. Imamoğlu, in his message from his Twitter account in English, stated, "My best wishes for a happy first night of Hanukkah to all those who celebrate! Wishing a happy Hanukkah to the Jewish community in Istanbul and beyond... Hag Hanukkah Sameach!

Furthermore, many other state officials, heads of provinces and districts, and party leaders including the Mayor of Edirne Recep Gürkan, the Mayor of Beşiktaş district Riza Akpolat, the Mayor of Şişli district Muammer Keskin, the Mayor of Sariyer district Şükrü Genç, and the Mayor of Princes' Islands district Erdem Gül celebrated the Hanukkah Festival with the messages they sent.
