Dr. Bahar Akpinar, in her presentation titled ‘Theatre to Survive by Jewish inmates in Terezin/Theresienstadt Concentration Camp and Ghetto: Time – Place – Memory’ at the annual conference organized by The British Association for Holocaust Studies (BAHS), spoke about the subjects she had researched for her doctoral study. Akpinar, who has evaluated the relationship between the time-place designs in these theatre plays she calls Theresienstadt Plays, in terms of memory, also talked about the 'counter-catharsis' concept she had introduced against Aristotle's concept of catharsis as a result of her studies.

Leading scholars and researchers from universities such as Oxford, Southampton, Exeter, Winchester, Goethe, and Durham participated in the three-day conference on Holocaust Studies. The presentation of Akpinar, following Lucy Adlington, the writer of 'The Dressmaker of Auschwitz' which had made number one in the New York Times (NYT) best sellers list and translated into 21 languages, was received with great enthusiasm. Bahar Akpinar said, "I am honored to be presenting on Holocaust Studies together with such a substantial community." Referring to the 'Theresienstadt Plays' as the artworks entrusted to humanity, she expressed her feelings by saying, "To make these plays known is a humanitarian duty for me."
