KaraKare [meaning BlackFrame or BlackSquare] Committee is a project developed and continued under the leadership of Alef Youth for many years now to raise awareness about the Holocaust. Its goal is to create awareness about Holocaust and anti-Semitism, to not forget, and to teach not to let it be forgotten. For this purpose, they are developing new projects every year.

KaraKare has designed various objects, to make our community remember the lives we had lost during Holocaust and to never forget, ever since the day it had been founded. In the context of a 'Social Awareness Project', the objects are determined, designed, and developed by young people to raise awareness, and are distributed to our community via the Şalom Newspaper. Also, they have been trying to create awareness in the community, with movie screenings and preparing videos.

Last year KaraKare, in line with the COVID-19 precautions, had even widened their existing goals and created an online museum designed virtually in the Alef building and had been able to reach rather wide audiences. This year they are realizing their goal once again with a real Holocaust exhibition created by the young people.

The 'Black Frame of the History (Tarihin Kara Karesi)' exhibition which will take you on a journey through time, will be open until May 8th, at the Neve Shalom Cultural Center.

If we don't know our past, we cannot perceive our future. We cannot let the painful historical events like Holocaust occur ever again. Therefore, we must be aware!
