“A human cannot change the past but can shape the future”
In a message to the community on the occasion of Rosh Hashanah, Chief Rabbi Rav David Sivi reminds us that this is a perfect time to take the first small steps toward future change.
Chief Rabbi Rav David Sivi shared the following message on the occasion of Rosh Hashanah:
“Dear Turkish Jewish community members,
This year, we are celebrating Rosh Hashanah concurrently with Shabbat. I hope and pray that our wishes for ‘Shabbat Shalom’ and ‘Shana Tova ’ will rise together to the heavens and be accepted in the Divine realm.
As we all know, Rosh Hashanah offers us beyond the opportunity for a reckoning of conscience the capacity to exercise our free will within the realm of Divine judgement. On this day, our heartfelt and sincere prayers are not only for forgiveness from the Almighty Creator, but also for Him to bestow upon us and all humanity health, happiness, well-being, serenity, and peace throughout the year that is now beginning.
As I extend my heartfelt greetings to each of you with the wish that “Tahel Shana Uvirchoteha” (may the year begin with its blessings), I pray that you may reach many more years in health, happiness, and well-being, surrounded by your loved ones.
Shabbat Shalom.
Shana Tova Umetukah.”
