The artistic pieces Benhabib created from waste materials, go hand in hand with the theme of this year’s biennial ‘Seventh Continent’, which stands for the huge mass of waste we humans are forming. Benhabib collected the everyday objects she used in her pieces, from the streets, construction sites, rag-and-bone-men and from her own daily life, taking her canvas out of the two-dimensional reality.

About her work, Benhabib is saying, “I blended the things that I can’t let go with the things that can be discarded. Just like the theme in a musical composition, what I want to express in this exhibition is the concept of limitlessness. Discovering our own identity once again, the search for questioning our surroundings and understanding the social and cultural values of today’s society are the themes of this exhibition.”

“We have to work together to create and strengthen a recycling awareness in our community.” the artist is concluding.

The exhibition can be visited during the days and hours the museum is open. The Quincentennial Foundation Museum of Turkish Jews is open between 10:00-17:00 from Sunday to Thursday, from 10:00-13:00 on Fridays.
