A Concert Full of Colors in Istanbul

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has brought to life a project that portrays the multi-cultured society of Istanbul, using the joining power of music.

The project 'Voice of Istanbul; Meeting' is making the sound of different cultures that have been living in the city for centuries, heard to the new generations, via music.

The Orchestras Directorate associated with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) is continuing to join the people of Istanbul with the music belonging to Istanbul.

The art director of the project consisting of songs in different languages is Ufuk Şimşek. In the concert, together with the IBB Orchestras Directorate vocalists and strings, Karen Gerşon Şarhon and Izzet Bana are singing an Istanbul song in Ladino, the language used by Sephardic Jews, Tatyana Bostan is singing an Istanbul song in Armenian, and Yani Kordomenidis is singing an Istanbul song in Greek. The singers are also performing a Turkish song about Beyoğlu, Istanbul, 'Beyoğlunda Gezersin', all together.
