Ahmet Selim Köroğlu, the Chief Advisor to the President and Member of the Presidential Health and Food Policies Board, announced the protest decision via his social media account.

Köroğlu wrote, "The doctors who have gathered near Istanbul Balat Jewish Hospital started to keep watch for Gaza. The doctors will march silently with their bloody lab coats every Saturday."

The doctors' bloody protest received reactions on social media. The protest received criticisms such as, "What do the Turkish Jews in the hospital have to do with what is happening? You are flagrantly violating the law of equal citizenship. Isn't this antisemitism?"

Balat Jewish Hospital in the statement regarding the protest against them, said, "We condemn the targeting of our hospital, one of the oldest health institutions in Turkey, which has been providing the most selfless and sensitive service to every patient who had entered its doors since 1898 when it was founded with the decree of Sultan Abdulhamid."
