"Let the Light of the Hanukkah Candles Illuminate Our Country and Our World"

Chief Rabbi Isak Haleva and his wife have sent a message to the Turkish Jewish Community, greeting Hanukkah, the Festival of Light.
"Let the Light of the Hanukkah Candles Illuminate Our Country and Our World"

"Our precious fellow Jews,

The Hanukkah candles we will light for eight nights, signify the achievements of our ancestors in their heroic struggle for their faith under the leadership of the Maccabees. And in our day the candles we will light, increasing one candle each day through 'the Festival of Lights/Hanukkah', symbolize our longings for freedom, peace, well-being, unity, and knowledge for us and all of humanity, and our hopes that our longings will come true.

We wish the spiritual lights of the Hanukkah candles, starting from our homes, shall illuminate our country and our world, and we congratulate you along with our prayers.

Hanukkah Sameach."
