Special Award for Jak Salom from Istanbul Film Festival

The recipients of 38th Istanbul Film Festival Cinema Awards have been announced. The Cinema Awards are given every year to distinguished individuals for their devotion and significant contributions to the art of cinema. This year, the Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to acclaimed director Serif Goren, Honorary Cinema Awards will be presented to Goksel Arsoy and Selda Alkor and the Outstanding Contribution to Cinema Award will be presented to Jak Salom.

The awards will be presented at the opening ceremony of 38th Istanbul Film Festival on Thursday, April 4th, 2019.

Jak Salom, the Founding Member of Turkish Cinematheque Association, professionally served at Turkish Cinematheque Association between the years 1966 and 1972 and at French Cinematheque Association between the years 1972 and 1977. Salom was a member of the faculty at Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales (National Institute of Eastern Languages and Civilizations) in Paris between the years 1976 and 2012.

Jak Salom has produced and directed nearly 250 stage productions during his career. Currently he is giving lectures on Cinema Sociology at Bogazici University.
