Historical Istipol Synagogue in Istanbul’s Balat neighborhood re-opened its doors on Thursday, January 7 after 65 years. Hundreds of members of the Jewish Community attended the first Morning Prayer.Members of the congregation prayed in the wooden 300-year-old synagogue with no electricity. Among the people who attended the prayer were Chief Rabbi Isah Haleva, Bet-Din members and Leader of Jewish Community Ishak Ibrahimzadeh.
Speaking at the end of the morning prayer, Ibrahimzadeh dedicated her speech to Korin Soriano, who had carried out the maintenance of the Synagogue throughout these years. Chief Rabbi Haleva taking the stand after Ibrahimzadeh stated that praying is a symbol of ‘hope’.
