´Come, Let´s Meet´ in Istanbul University

A day of conversation was organized in Istanbul University's Eastern Languages Institute, Auzef Campus Building, on November 7^th. The aim of this conversation day was for the Turkish people that had never met a Jew in their lives, to get to know the Jewish people, Jewish cultures, Jewish traditions. This way, the coordinators intend to eliminate the hate towards the Jewish community that comes out of ignorance.

The event's coordinators described it on the event banner as follows: "Turkish Jew... Does this definition seem odd to you? Come, Let's Meet. You ask us all the questions that come to your mind, let us answer them. Come, let's chat face to face. Experience yourselves that we, who grew up in the same land as you, are not that different."

It is a heartwarming story that narrates the harmony of differences and the friendship that arises from this harmony. The creators of the characters Penga and Menga are Vivet Pitelon Sparkes and her son Jim Sparkes. Also, the illustrations in the "Holidays" series (consisting of 11 books) designed for children, belong to both of them. The stories are written and translated into English (from Turkish) by Vivet.

Ulus Jewish Schools Middle School´s young tech geniuses achieved great success in the 10th Başahşehir Living Lab Innovation Competition. In the competition where 220 projects from all over Turkey have competed with the "Innovative ideas are competing" motto, UÖMO students, standing out from their rivals with their "Natural Disaster Kit", came third in the middle school category.
