Anti-Semitism hits peak in media
The rising tension in Jerusalem Al-Aqsa fueled rise in Anti-Semitism especially in Turkish media and in social media. Criticism of Israel is shifting its shape. The tension which had started after Israel tried to implement security measures at Al-Aqsa Mosque following a terror attack, led to harsh criticism and protests against Israel. However, most of those critiques did not only target Israel and Israeli government’s policies, but also Jews, in general.
Especially on social media, there has been an obvious increase in Anti-Semitic comments. The comments posted on various social media platforms were not just anti-Israel comments but also, comments about conspiracy theories regarding Jews in general; Holocaust denial and threats against Turkish Jews.
