Political consultations between Turkey and Israel after six years

“The 15th round of the Turkish-Israeli Political Consultations, at the level of Undersecretary of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, was held on 1stFebruary 2017, in Ankara. The resumption of the Political Consultations that have been held since 1987, after a six year break, is a natural result of the understanding reached last June on the normalization of relations between the two countries.

All pertinent bilateral issues were reviewed and especially cooperation in areas such as energy, economy, culture and tourism. As a result, both sides have agreed to enhance cooperation on the said issues through exchanges of ministerial visits, high level business, academic and cultural delegations, starting with the upcoming visits of Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism and the Turkish Minister of Economy to Israel.

Both sides viewed developments in the wide region, particularly in the Middle East and Eastern Mediterranean and reaffirmed the importance of better Turkish Israeli relations for the stability and the security of the region.”
