Chief Rabbi Isak Haleva Received his Certificate of Election

Chief Rabbi Isak Haleva, who was re-elected as Chief Rabbi of Turkish Jewish Community according to official results of May 14th Turkish Chief Rabbi Elections, received his certificate of election, last week.  After receiving his certificate of election, Chief Rabbi Haleva issued a statement for the Turkish Jewish Community:

“Dear members of the Turkish Jewish Community,

On Sunday, May 14th, while we were celebrating Lag BaOmer as a community to renew our hopes for the future, we held the Chief Rabbi Election.  I have been elected as the Chief Rabbi of Turkish Jewish Community, for the third consecutive time.

I would like to extend my gratitude to the president and members of the Election Board whose devotion and hard work made this election possible. I would also like to thank our volunteers who have worked at every stage of the election.

As you would also agree, to be an heir and a representative of a tradition that has continued in our country for over 500 years is one the greatest honors a Rabbi like me can have.

I genuinely thank members of our community who deemed me worthy of this honor and promise to abide our holy Torah and our religious rules as my guide as always while fulfilling my duties. “
