One Heart Against Terror

Following last Saturday evening’s horrific terror attack in Istanbul, Besiktas where 44 people lost their lives, Turkish Jewish Community issued a statement. Turkish Jewish Community once again condemned terror and emphasized that we are all one heart against terror.

44 people, including 36 police officers were killed in the attack. Also 155 people are injured, fourteen of which in serious condition.  

Following the attack, a ceremony was held at Istanbul Police Headquarters for the martyred police officers. Representatives from Turkish Jewish Community were present at the ceremony. After the ceremony, Chief Rabbi Rav Isak Haleva, Leader of Turkish Jewish Community Ishak Ibrahimzadeh and a group of executives from Turkish Chief Rabbinate Foundation visited the wounded people at the hospital.  

Two days after the attack, on Monday, a memorial was held in front of Besiktas Stadium where the attack took place. Besiktas Mayor Murat Hazinedar, representatives from Turkish Jewish Community and foreign countries’ consuls in Istanbul attended the memorial. The memorial started with a moment of silence. Turkish Jewish Community representatives placed a wreath at the scene.
